Safely celebrating progress and achievements

 

The faculty of Biotechnology ceremoniously conducted their graduation projects discussion presentations on Monday the 29th of March. The faculty was keen on ensuring the safety of attendees, social distancing measures were implemented, masks were distributed and mandated in addition to sanitizing liquids being available throughout the rooms.

 

The day began with a multitude of honorary recognitions for achievements followed by the presentation sessions for 200 students. The honorary opening session entailed recognizing the contribution of multiple stakeholders, from external supervisors who were incredibly supportive to the students, to graduates who are now leading the different sectors of the biotechnology industry and giving back to their community through hosting students in their institutes.

 

Approximately 77 external examiners attended, and 46 venues were available for students to complete their individual projects.

 

The sessions were, according to the examiners, of the highest caliber. The topics were diverse across fields of biotechnology, from addressing salinity and water contamination, to addressing issues in agriculture, food quality and safety.

 

Topics also comprised employing molecular approaches to modifying certain organisms, in addition to topics that address current medical issues such as methods of diagnosing COVID-19, methods for assessing other infectious as well as noncommunicable diseases. Collaborating institutes included El Galaa Military Hospital, 57357 Children’s Cancer Hospital, Nanotechnology Centers in Zewail, BUE, Research Centers in Cairo University, Global Labs, QCAP and many more...

 

The faculty also honored students who contributed to research projects and those who managed to complete a publication in Journals that are scopus indexed.
