Field Trip to The National Gene Bank

The Biochemistry Department, Faculty of Pharmacy at MSA,is thrilled to share the immersive success of recent scientific field trip of our Molecular Genetics level 2 students to the National Gene Bank to link theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. The field trip served as an active learning platform, allowing the students to ask questions, engage in discussions with experts, and foster passion for the details of molecular genetics.

The focal point of this enriching journey was the exploration of three pivotal laboratories: the Molecular Genetics Lab, the Cytogenetic Lab, and the Cell Culture Lab. our students were given the unique opportunity to witness the real-world applications of their classroom knowledge and methodologies employed in the field.

In the Molecular Genetics Lab Students had the chance to engage with state-of-the-art equipment and witness the precision involved in decoding the secrets encrypted within the DNA strands. This hands-on experience undoubtedly deepened their understanding of molecular processes and their applications in genetic research. In the Cytogenetic Lab, the students delved into the world of chromosomal analysis. Witnessing the particular examination of chromosomes under high-powered microscopes provided invaluable insights into the identification of genetic abnormalities and the role they play in various disorders. The journey continued into the Cell Culture Lab, where students were immersed in the delicate art of cultivating and maintaining living cells.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the National Gene Bank for opening its doors and providing an invaluable experience that will undoubtedly shape the future careers of our promising students
