Reusing Historic Buildings of Value

Under the title Reusing Historic Buildings of Value, the Faculty of Arts and Design organized an event to support the graduation projects of students of the Interior Design Department for this year.

 

The Faculty of Arts and Design was honored to host a group of experts, consultants, and designers to discuss the methodology for re-using and using historical buildings, and ways to preserve heritage to achieve environmental, economic, and cultural sustainability. The event came to support the graduation projects of the students of the Interior Design Department, which aim to reuse and use a group of heritage buildings in Cairo, Giza, Port Said, and Alexandria.

 

Prof. Dr. Soheir Zaki Hawass, Professor of Architecture and Urban Design, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, and former head of the Studies, Research and Policies Department of the National Organization for Urban Harmony, and the recipient of the State Appreciation Award in Arts and Architecture for the year 2022 participated in this event.

 

Also, the event was attended by:

 

  • Style-Design Architect: Architect Hisham Ghorab, “Film My Design” Film Festival
  • Architectural Designer: Mohamed Radwan, Founder of Cairo Designathon

 

The exhibition of Dr. Karam Abdullah, a lecturer in the Interior Design Department, was also opened under the title “Development of the service area in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor: A Contemporary Design Vision”. Additionally, the Department of Cinema and Theater also participated in the event with an exhibition entitled “Cinema-Induced Tourism”.

 

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Khairy Abdel Hamid, President of MSA University, and Prof. Dr. Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University. Also, it was attended by Prof. Dr. Tarek Saleh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, and the team supervising the graduation projects, Prof. Dr. Rasha El-Zainy, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, Prof. Dr. Khaled Hawas, Prof. Dr. Ola Hashem, Assistant Professor Dr. Dalia Ezzat, and a group of faculty members, assistants, and students at the faculty.
