The Third Media Youth Forum entitled “Words Matter”

The Faculty of Mass Communication at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) held the Media Youth Forum for the third year in a row under the title "Words Matter", within the framework of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's keenness on the importance of the role of soft power in creating a society that understands the role of youth in Egypt in achieving the vision Nationality for Egypt 2030. The forum brought together a group of media experts in the academic and practical fields and young media professionals to create an opportunity for exchanging experiences and communication between Faculty youth and the media labor market.

 

The axes of the discussion session revolved around the responsibility of young media professionals to present a purposeful media message, and the media's responsibility to create conscious and responsible youth. The Forum honored and welcomed Prof. Dr. Mona Al-Hadidi, Professor of Media at Cairo University, Chairman of the Jury, and the forum’s guest of honor. The forum also honored the name of the novelist and great writer Bahaa Taher, who enriched Egyptian literature and art with many masterpieces.

 

The jury consisted of:

  • Prof. Dr. Mona Al-Hadidy, head of the jury
  • Ms. Manar Hosni, head of the National Center for Cinema
  • Mr. Kamal Abdel Aziz, director of cinematography and director of documentary films
  • Mr. Sherif Saeed, writer, novelist, and director of documentary films
  • Mr. Haitham Abu Aqrab Producer and Director
  • Director Mr. Ahmed Assaf

 

The guests of the forum for this year included a group of artists and media stars who are:

  • The great journalist and media writer, Mr. Mohamed Hani,
  • The distinguished director, Mr. Mohamed Murad, the director of the “Befriend Happiness” program
  • The artist and scriptwriter, Mr. Amr Yassin
  • The actor and star, Mr. Sabri Fawaz,
  • The distinguished media presenter Ms. Dina Esmat.

 

The media symposium was moderated by Dr. Reem Wagdy. All attendees praised the distinguished and unique level of the graduation projects of the Broadcasting Department at MSA university, which deal in depth with the issues of Egyptian society and present a purposeful and conscious message for development. In addition, a number of Faculty students also presented a group of songs in Arabic and French with a group of musicians from the Faculty students, who added an atmosphere of joy and exclusivity to this annual event and were praised by all the attendees.

 

The graduation project awards for this year were as follows:

  • General Excellence Award: “Hayat” film by Rana Essam
  • Excellence Award in Idea and Processing: The film "The Sound of Silence" by Hala Rageh
  • Excellence in Photography Award: "Hiking in Egypt" by Rolan Amr
  • Excellence Award in Editing: "Mama Lubna" by Youssef Ehab
  • Excellence in Directing Award: The film “Seek for the original” by Nadine Bastami
  • Jury Prize: "Undiagnosed" by Dina Taha

The forum also awarded creativity certificates to a group of works as follows:

  • Creativity certificate for the movie "Hanna" by Nour Sherif
  • Creativity Certificate for the movie "Her Way" by Lulwa Amr
  • Creativity certificate for the movie "The Princess" by Hagar Hesham
  • Creativity certificate for the movie "Al-Ahly Goalkeeper" by student Sala Hamed
