MSAians` Arts Exhibition at Al Messaha Cultural Center
Al Messaha Cultural Center in Dokki hosted a splendid Art Exhibition which was sponsored by MSA University, and was inaugurated by Dr. Nawal El Degwi, the head of the Board of Trustees. The exhibition included the choicest selection of artists where it displayed the work of 20 artists. Dr. Tarek Saleh, Dean of Arts & Design Faculty, attended the exhibition together with the famous artist, caricaturist and the previous head of Artsists Syndicate Mostafa Hussein. Faculty of Arts and Design is planning to hold an exhibition for students' works twice a year; one in January and the other in July to give the students a chance to interact with all artistic trends through the famous artists out there in Egypt and represent Faculty of Arts and Design majors. .

Environmental Control Passive Design Workshop
Three days of theoretical lectures by internal and external lecturers and professors was the main core of Environmental Control Workshop that was held on Monday, February 18, 2013, and then continued for a whole week, at E 316 at MSA Campus. The workshop was attended by 30 MSA students. Dr Sameh El Fiky on behalf of architecture department Head , Dr Omar Fawzy, welcomed the external lecturers from Alexandria University and started the opening session on first day and explained the main concept of sustainability, climate change and the role of an architect. That was followed by a series of specialized lectures by external professor explaining the tools and principles that can be used in architecture to implement sustainability concepts into the design process.
MSA Arts & Design Celebrates its First Exhibition at Messaha Cultural Center
Messaha Arts and Cultural Center at Dokki hosted the Arts and Design Faculty exhibition of students works through the last previous three semesters on Saturday, March 16, 2013. A lot of Arts and Design Faculties deans and arts experts were invited to encourage the students to communicate with practical real life and be exposed to outer world. The exhibition included various works of arts like printing, engraving, graphics, dual dimension works in addition of drawings and paintings. This exhibition had an impressive impact on students and guests which reflected a refined artistic taste and talent of their first exhibition. Dr Nawal El Degwi, Head of the Board of Trustees, inaugurated the exhibition in presence of Dr Khairy Abdel Hamid, MSA President and Faculty of Arts and Design Dean, Dr Tarek Saleh.
Arts & Design at Young at Art Congress Turkey
In an International Conference for Arts Students in Turkey "IFASC", at Maltepe University in Istanbul, titled "Young at Art", MSA Arts and Design students Gamila El Leithi, Engy El Zeiny, Marina Raef, Dina Farghal and Eman Bellah Atef participated to exhibit their works of arts and researches. They meant to discuss Arts, Architecture and Interior Design as complementing majors. They were accompanied by Prof. Dr. Aleya Abdel-Hadi and TA Karam Abdallah.
A Colour Workshop held for Interior Design Students
A two days 'Colour Workshop' was held at the Faculty of Arts and Design for the students of Interior Design under the instruction of the artist Mohannad Orabi, a free-lance Syrian Painter and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Aleya Abdel-Hadi with the assistance of L. A. Karam Abdallah. The students worked freely exploring the rich world of colouring with acrylic paints, discovering aesthetic effects and using them for further shapes; excitement and creativity were the bases of their positive interaction with their instructor. Their output here on display conveys that feeling of going "Out of the Box".
Interior Design Students Visit "As-Suhaiymi House" in Historic Cairo
Within the schedule of (INTR351 – Heritage of Interior Design), students of Interior Design at the Faculty of Arts and Design have paid a working field visit to 'As-Suhaymi House' in Historic Cairo at 'El Darb El Asfar' street off 'Al Muizz' street. It is one of the prominent houses in Cairo that dates back to the 18th century (Ottoman Period) and is regarded as a perfect example for the style of decoration and designing at that time.
Arts & Design trip to 24th Youth Salon in the Palace of Arts
On Tuesday, 24 December 2013, we held a field trip for our 2nd Year Graphics and Media Arts students to visit the 24th Youth Salon in the Palace of Arts – Cairo Opera House – Ministry of Culture. Today’s field trip, was an enriching experience exposing our beloved students to diverse approaches in multiple fields of visual creativity accomplished by promising, young and evolving artists. Many fruitful discussions and opinion sharing have been held on the spot adding to our students’ Cultural Knowledge and Visual awareness.Another brick has been added to the solid base of our student’s future artistic career.
MSA University Hosts :Modern Swedish Fashion and Cultural Heritage
A seven days’ workshop has started today at the Modern Sciences and Arts University (MSA), conducted by Swedish fashion designer, Hans Jansson, and Fashion professor at Stockholm University, Louise Wallenberg. Over fifteen fashion students will be introduced to the role of fashion in promoting cultural dialogue between nations, the Swedish experience in innovative fashion techniques, and how modern fashion could be combined with multi-cultural influences, and help empowering the local community, especially women.

Engineering Success Story at MSA: First Egyptian Agricultural Meteorological Station
The 17th of June of this year witnessed a unique occasion of its kind: the signing of the contract of the design and manufacture of the first agricultural meteorological station holding mechanism with pure Egyptian technology, and that between each of the engineering design company created by a group graduates of the Department of Electrical Systems Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Said Mabrook and the businessman Mamdouh Ghataty, the owner of the largest farms for exporting mangos and green creams.

Association for Computing Machinery International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM)
MSA took part, for the first time in the International Collegiate Programming Contest which took place last October 2009 in Cairo University where all universities of Arab Republic of Egypt have participated. MSA team also joined that contest on the Middle East and Africa level where 46 teams from 29 universities of 9 Arab countries have participated. The American University in Beirut, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Palestine has participated in the contest. In Egypt the AUC, BUE, Cairo University, Ein Shams and Helwan universities and MSA has participated for the first time.
Computer Science Is ranked within the top 5 in Smarter Egypt IBM Hackathon
IBM Egypt has organized for a 4-day Hackathon during November 2014. A Hackathon is an event in which computer programmers collaborate intensively on software projects. The IBM Egypt Hackathon was intended to address pressing problems on Egypt’s national agenda and strategic development plans through innovation and cutting-edge technologies. The Hackathon theme is Smarter Cities with focus on energy, water management, and health domains.

Looking for the Fairy or the magic wand? A few notes on man's search for happiness
Last week, the faculty of languages hosted the prominent Dr. Sahar El Mougy to talk about “Looking for the Fairy or the magic wand? A few notes on man's search for happiness”. Sahar Elmougy is an Egyptian writer, assistant professor of American literature (Cairo University). She is also a columnist, creative writing trainer, storyteller and feminist activist. Up her sleeve, she has four books: two collections of short stories and two novels. Her two novels: Daria (1999) and Noon (2007), which won Arab and Mediterranean literary prizes, carved her a place on the Egyptian literary map. Her bestselling novel Noon helped confirm as one of the prominent authors in Egypt. Elmougy conducts a creative writing workshop named after Seshat (the ancient Egyptian goddess of writing).
Breast Cancer Awareness Event
The Faculty of Languages held a Breast Cancer Awareness Day on the 23rd October,2014 in celebration of the international breast cancer month. In the presence of Prof. Khayri Abdelhameed, MSA University president, and Prof. Soha Raafat, Faculty of Languages dean; Mrs Ghada Salah, a volunteering ex-patient, was invited to give a speech narrating her experience with this disease after two films were projected. During the event, a poster exhibition was held and awareness leaflets were distributed to the audience.

MSA Staff Awarded Best PhD Thesis
The best Thesis award of Cairo University was granted to MSA's Ghada Mohamed Ali Alakhdar of Faculty of Languages for her thesis titled: "Cyber Text Morality Online and the Promotion of Cultural Diversity". Under the supervision of Prof.Dr. Sahar Sobhi Abdel Hakim. The valuable and unique thesis was summed up in the 'Diversity of the World Cultures which have the potential for development through "reactivating solidarity networks and reinventing a lost mode of social interaction." The study in that respect picks up the rhizomes of war machine which present a free model for collective action and production, as it also analyses the nomad and its strategy of mobility and vigour communicated in its weaponry. Heartily congratulations to Ms Ghada M. Ali Akhdar for her achieved unique thesis which earned her the 'Best Theses Awards of Cairo University'.

During a ceremony that took place in the presence of Cairo University president and top management administration of both the university and the Faculty of Commerce, Ms. Mai Mamdouh proudly received her award on Thursday, December 4, 2014.

On Monday 19th April, 2010 Broadcasting Department at MSA hosted a workshop for the Daily TV show production members of,"Yes3ed Sba7ak"- channel 2. The main theme of the workshop was, "The production technique of daily talk shows." The production team of the show consisted of Mr. Sameh Abdalla, director, Mr Hany Gamil, editor, Mr Fayez Tharwat, anchor and Miss Hanaa Maher, assistant producer and it is casted by alternating presenters.

Faculty of Mass Communication at MSA, held its first annual Graduation Projects Festival which is witnessed by Dr Nawal El Degwi, Head of the Board of Trustees, Dr Khairy Abdel Hamid; MSA President, besides Dean of the Faculty of Mass Com. Dr Ebtessam El Gendy and Dr Kamal Abdel Aziz. A judging panel besides the faculty members who supervised these projects of Radio & TV Section, Journalism and Public Relations and Advertising also attended the Festival, in addition of public figures, Mass com experts and universities' professors. The Faculty of Mass Com will honour the graduation projects that are distinguished and add to its peripheral field.

MSA held its 5th International Employment and Training Fair on November 24 & 25, 2012 in the University Campus in October City. It is initiated from the pioneer role taken by MSA to make the high calibers jobs and training in outstanding and renowned companies available for its students. This year a lot of national and international companies were present in the fair to receive MSA distinguished graduates and students to turn their potential into performance and enable them to discover a career that offers diversity, inclusion, work life effectiveness with integrity and support for success.
MSA Qualifies its Students to Globalization
In a unique Model of The United Nations (MUN), MSA students discussed global and regional issues like Guatemala, borders problems between Colombia and Venezuela besides the problem of Nile Dam between Ethiopia and the sourcing countries, plus the border problem between Turkey and Syria. Dr Nawal El Degwi, Head of the Board of Trustees, inaugurated (MUN) Agenda, in the presence of Mrs. Khawla Matter, managing director of UN Information Center in Cairo. Targeting the development and advancement of their abilities to defend their rights and acquire skills of diplomatic and parliamentary work 200 students participated in that Model on United Nations.
MSAians Volunteer in Fayoum
Out of deep sense of corporate social responsibility and MSA mission to engage our students actively in their community, Lebaladna Social Foundation adopted giving generously considerable amounts of convenience donations. Having this concept in heart and mind, the Foundation visited yesterday Saturday, February 9, 2013 Al Asfar Village in Fayoum Governorate to distribute 500 blankets wrapped with warm affection to the needy and less fortunate villagers during these nights of freezing cold weather, besides renovating 18 houses in the same village.

MSA Congratulates the Winners of Sports` First Place Cup
MSA University congratulates all students who won First Place Cup in "The Fifth Championship" successively, of the Sixth Sector which took place on The Olympic Stadium in MSA. The championship included: Football (boys), Volleyball (boys and girls), Handball (boys), Basketball (boys and girls) and Table Tennis.
Life without Smoking
In association with "Life without Smoking" Society, MSA launched one of its most effective campaigns yet in the guiding and changing of harmful habits, specially smoking. As they were keen and enthusiastic to learn, 600 students attended the event and quite a few quit smoking as a result. The campaign ran for three days consecutively in order to encourage more willing students to participate, after which 17 of them, actually stopped smoking and pledged to help their colleagues quit this self-destructive habit.
MSAMUN Dominates the Awards Podium at the Budapest International Model United Nations (BIMUN)
The MSAMUN delegation representation at the conference was a smashing success and they returned home with a handful of awards for MSAMUN and the Modern Sciences & Arts University. There were more than 52 participating schools and universities and the competition was very high but the MSA delegation not only won the “Best Delegation" award, but also dominated the individual awards. Yousra Shawki was awarded “Best Delegate of the Economic & Social Council”. Sherif El-Ashiry received the “Best Delegate of the International Criminal Court” award. Also Mohamed Ali got the “Best Delegate of the University Level BIMUN”. The delegation was supervised by Dr. Samia El Sheikh and Dr. Hala Marsafy.

Once again, our Mass Communications graduation projects were judged by our affiliates and good friends from JWT Advertising, Yassmin Nader (Creative Director), Rami El Kerdani (Senior Art Director), Diana George (Account Manager), Kareem Farid (Planning Analyst), Lauren Wahed (Senior Social Media Editor), Hanan El Bialy (Talent Management). The judges were blown away by the presentations and stated that “JWT were very impressed with two of the MSA projects, the disability and handicrafts projects. We will be affiliated with these two awareness campaigns as part of our CSR initiative.”

Pharmacy's Graduating Students Celebration
On the 24th of this very month, MSA University's faculty of Pharmacy organized a farewell gathering for their seniors. It was a fun day where students wore the same funny t-shirts and spent a good time with fellow colleagues and staff members. Pharmacy is Aknowledged Internationally
A group of 18 exceptional senior pharmacy students, headed by Dr. Hisham Salem, the Vice Dean of Pharmacy, represented MSA University in the ‘Pharmaceutical Science & Green Chemistry in Turkey’. The conference targeted new methods of analysis for new drugs. Our students gave 9 presentations about their new analytical methods findings in various pharmaceutical fields.
MSA Launches the First Clinical Pharmacy Conference
MSA's Clinical Pharmacy, Department of the Faculty of Pharmacy, hosted the first Scientific 'Clinical Pharmacy' conference which was attended by an enormous number of renowned professors in the fields of Medical and Clinical pharmacy and delivered several lectures about the importance of Clinical Pharmacy and its fields of application in Egypt. The Best Poster Presentation Award for Pharmacy Graduation Project
Faculty of Pharmacy graduates, Nehal Aasem , Hadeel Mohamed and Abd El-Fattah Sobhy submitted their graduation project titled (Pharmacological Intervention of Chemically Induced Depression in Rats), for poster award competition at The 3rd International Euro-Mediterranean Conference on Natural Products. The project was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Mona EL. Naa and A.L. Ahmed Refaat. After judgment was done by a board of jury on the clarity of poster, overall responses to the questions of the judges and the completeness of work, the poster was announced to have won THE BEST POSTER PRESENTATION. The conference was held on 4-6 January 2014 at the National Research Center, Dokki, Cairo, Egypt. The purpose of the conference was to promote discussion and interaction among academics and researchers in the field of natural products.

Due to our staff’s relentless determination to support and develop students, eight students from the Faculty of Pharmacy were nominated to attend a workshop on “Intellectual Communication” in DAAD premises, in what marked the first official cooperation between DAAD and MSA.
EIPICO Field Trip
The faculty of Pharmacy, MSA University arranged an educational visit for 68 students, supervised by Dr. Gina El-Feky, Head of the Pharmaceutics Department and Dr. Haidy Atef, the Industrial Pharmacy module leader on the 20th of October, 2014 to EIPICO; one of the leading pharmaceutical manufacturers in Egypt. EIPICO produces more than 370 different products.

October University for Modern Sciences and Arts took the initiative to host this conference where researchers discussed the latest and the most advanced researches in the field of biotechnology where (MSA)is considered the only and sole university to have biotechnology among its faculties either in Egypt or in the Arab world universities. (MSA) grants its graduates a degree in biotechnology equivalent to the same degree granted to graduates of Greenwich University in the United Kingdom.
Biotechnology International Conference
MSA University has witnessed the first international conference for the biotechnology applications in which three hundred and fifty scientists and researchers have shown up from all over the world. Scientists and researchers have presented the latest researches concerning the biotechnology field.

The 2nd International Conference for the applications of bio-technology (ICAB) 2009 attended by 350 scientists and researchers from all over the world was held for two days at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) where they presented and discussed the latest and most advanced researches in that respect.
MSA's Biotech Students Win Nobel Prize Simulation
MSA University is proud to announce that its excelling Biotechnology students Cherine Amr and Fatma El Zahraa Salama were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry and Medical Sciences at the Asian Science Camp which was held in Daejon, Korea from the 7th to the 13th of August 2011. Their project was a great piece of work under the title “Targeting a specific receptor in the brain tumor to facilitate the passage of the drug through the blood brain barrier.” Our very own Cherine and Fatma were thrilled to attend the camp and felt lucky to be able to meet several Nobel laureates and even attend their lectures.

Academic Field Trips are usually very informative, packed with hands on experiences where students can practically and on site apply the theoretical information they got in class. Field trips are always fun and enjoyable as a social gathering and scientifically enhance and stress the educational information.
Mirna Khater a Biotech Champion!
Mirna Khater, assistant lecturer at MSA's faculty of Biotechnology, traveled to the United Kingdom to attend her MSc Graduation Ceremony at Rochester Cathedral, University of Greenwich, UK on the 26th July 2012.
Biotechnology Grad Projects
MSA Faculty of Biotechnology planned to open the graduation projects which totaled 24 projects for discussion, on February 4, 2013. The best projected one was using the stem cells to treat the major chronic diseases. That project was presented by Shorouk El Tokhy. Another project dealt with the effect of toxics on the liver functions which was presented by Seham Gawdat.

For the second time in a row, Biotechnology students were privileged to get an accommodation at the Agricultural Genetic Engineering Research Institute for training (AGERI), during their midterm break.
First Field Trip for Biotechnology Students
On Wednesday, February 27, the students had an educational field trip to visit one of the largest Egyptian food-producing companies, EGC. There, they had the exciting opportunity to observe the steps to the live production of V-cut chips, DAMAS chocolates and Nobi biscuits, acquiring feedback on the problems facing these factories which could then be solved by biotechnological means.

The Second Biotechnology Symposium in Faculty of Science, CairoUniversity was held on Saturday, 16th of March. The Symposium includedstudents from Biotechnology from four different universitiesincluding; MSA, GUC, Cairo University, and MUST.

Gene Guns at Hand
As part of the continued efforts of the MSA faculties to provide unique learning experiences to its students, third year students of the Faculty of Biotechnology have had the distinctive opportunity to visit the Agriculture Genetic Engineering Research Institute (AGERI) to tour the valuable institute and to see how the Gene Gun works. The Gene Gun is the device and bombardment technique used for gene insertion and transformation in crops.

Earlier this week, the Faculty of Biotechnology held its graduation project discussions in the attendance of almost 20 external examiners that were hosted by MSA to review and discuss the students’ graduation projects. Faculty of Biotechnology-Industrial Project Course
On Monday, 24th of February, a group of students from Faculty of Biotechnology had an academic field trip to a dairy products factory and a training centre in the Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, as a part of the industrial project course. The students experienced two different types of processing milk products, manually and mechanically.

Saleh Naggar Ahmed was awarded first place for his project in the "Symposium of Unique life (SOUL) 2014" which was held on Saturday, the 22nd of March. SOUL is under the patronage of the National Research center (NRC) and the Ministry of youth affairs which is part of the "Centre of Civic Education" , at El Zamalek. Saleh presented "Pretreatment of Agriculture Waste for production of Solid Fuel". He competed against several student such as Zuwail University, MUST University , Cairo University, Ain Shams university and many others.

Glare and Glory of MSA 15th Class Graduation Ceremony Made the University's Worldwide Recognition a Reality
Modern Science and Arts University's graduation ceremony this year combined glare and glory as graduates will be receiving a Greenwich degree alongside the Egyptian one. MSA Graduates had undoubtedly taken a leap and had an edge over their peers' counterparts. MSAU graduates included Faculty of Dental & Oral Hygiene, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Biotechnology, Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of Mass Com, Faculty of Computer Sciences and Faculty of Languages. Thousand of parents witnessed the ceremony where Professor Dr Nawal El Degwi Head of Board of Trustees and Professor Dr Khairy Abdel Hamid MSAU President welcomed them, who in turn expressed their gratitude and commended the cherished care of their sons and daughters which prepared them to the challenge of the ever changing and demanding job market. Outstanding graduates received fifteen free scholarships to study Masters Degree in United Kingdom's Universities.
